About Alyssa

I believe that, at its core, therapy is about feeling truly seen and understood. It’s a space to slow down, be curious about yourself, and explore the experiences that have shaped you. My hope is that through this process, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself and feel more able to move through life with greater clarity and freedom.

I use psychodynamic therapy, an insight oriented approach that grew out of psychoanalysis, to help clients make sense of their experiences on a deeper level. My training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and my educational background in human development inform how I understand the whole person—the experiences, relationships, emotions, and patterns that have shaped who you are today.

I’m curious about the patterns that bring you to therapy and the ways they may continue to influence your life, sometimes outside of your awareness. We might explore how earlier experiences have shaped the way you understand yourself, navigate relationships, manage difficult emotions, or respond to challenges in the present. At the same time, I believe our past does not have to determine our future. Developing a deeper understanding of yourself can create greater freedom, flexibility, and choice.

I earned a Master of Social Work degree at the Erikson Institute, a graduate school focused on child development, which gave me a strong foundation in understanding emotional development and the importance of early relationships. My subsequent fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute has deepened my understanding of how these early experiences can continue to influence us throughout adulthood. This developmental and psychoanalytic perspective allows me to meet each person with curiosity about their unique history.

My goal is not simply to help you feel better in the moment, but to help you understand yourself more fully so that meaningful, lasting change can become possible. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where we can approach this work together with curiosity and compassion.
